Makerspace - your creativity counts!

The library as a "third place" alongside home and school or work

Take a book off the shelf, borrow it from the librarian and go home – that is what a visit to the library used to look like. The makerspace is your workshop for the digital age. Since July 2022 we have also been working very closely with the Kreismedienzentrum Zollernalbkreis, among other things on the Coding Corner project, the computer games school and workshops. In 2022 there was also a conference and a market of possibilities.

As a start there has been a 3D printer since April 2020. A number of maker items ↗ can already be borrowed. The magazine Make: is available to borrow too.

More is being built up:

Questions about the makerspace

What is a makerspace?

„Makerspaces" are places of collaborative learning and working, where people work on projects of their own interest alongside others and create (or make) things. The word „things" is deliberately left undefined, so as not to limit the user's creativity. The place (the „space") is the platform that holds the equipment and, where applicable, the materials, and offers a way to exchange ideas directly with other users about your own or shared projects. There can perfectly well be particular focuses too — music, video, craft work and so on.

I have a great idea...

...but I don't have the tools or the know-how!

Then just get in touch with us.

We may be able to help you develop your idea with what we have and what you can do. Here you can realise yourself creatively and, where possible, carry out the projects closest to your heart. A great deal is possible, in the spirit of „learning by doing – together".

Alongside carrying out your own projects, lively exchange among everyone here is a first priority for us, because constant learning and building on what already exists open up entirely new possibilities.

What to do if you have further questions or problems?

You are always welcome to get in touch. Outside opening hours you can reach us round the clock by email at info@owbib.de. We do our best to answer as quickly as we can, in the evenings and at weekends too.

If you notice a mistake or an inconsistency on our website, please let us know. Thank you!
