The themed project „Soziales Engagement"
The themed project „Soziales Engagement" (social commitment) sets out to awaken and build a sense of responsibility in dealing with people. For the pupils this means getting to know their own strengths and weaknesses, widening their ability to communicate, improving their teamwork and so strengthening their confidence in how they behave and their social skills.
Within the project this can be done through a social work placement –
in institutions of the Diakonie or Caritas, with the fire brigade, in clubs and associations,
in training as a (junior) pupil mentor (in sport, music or science, for instance) or in a joint scheme with a special school.
Many pupils do their social placement with us too, and in doing so gain not only valuable experience and new skills but also an insight into the work of a modern library.
And if a placement student then decides to join the team, we are of course particularly pleased.
