Facts and figures

The value of a library cannot be judged by numbers and statistics alone, least of all in the years of rebuilding in temporary premises from 2018 to 2025 after the fire of January 2018, and during the coronavirus pandemic from 2020 to 2023.
A library is beyond price.

Key figures of recent years

These statistics alone cannot show the whole of what the library is worth. That is a good deal more many-layered and includes qualities such as its importance as a place of education and information, as a place of cultural learning and as a meeting point and social space for the community. Beyond that, the library is an important starting point for innovative, practical offerings such as the makerspace.

Something to think about...

A terrible storm blew up. The gale raged.
The sea was churned up and waves metres high broke on the shore with a deafening roar.

As the storm slowly eased, the sky cleared again. But on the beach lay countless starfish, thrown ashore by the current.

A little boy walked along the beach, carefully picking up starfish one by one and throwing them back into the sea.

A man came by. He went up to the boy and said:
„You silly boy! What you are doing is completely pointless. Can't you see the whole beach is covered in starfish? You can never throw them all back into the sea! What you are doing changes nothing at all!"

The boy looked at the man for a moment.
Then he went to the next starfish, carefully lifted it from the ground and threw it into the sea.
To the man he said:
„For that one it will change a great deal!"
