Coronavirus opening plan

Our plan is flexible, so that we can react at short notice to any tightening or easing of the rules.

Our aim is to get as close as possible to how things were before the coronavirus. But always with a particular eye to protecting visitors and team members, and nothing rushed.

Current information at → corona.owbib.de.

The following rules apply to visitors:

  • If you feel unwell or have the slightest cold symptoms, please stay at home.
  • The library should only be entered wearing an FFP2 mask .
  • A minimum distance of 1.5 m from others should be kept.
  • Hands should be disinfected before entering the library.

Measures put in place in 2022:

  • Cashless payment: all debit and credit cards bearing a Visa, VPay, Mastercard, Maestro or American Express logo are accepted, as are NFC payments by Google Pay and Apple Pay.
  • Separating areas: returns and lending are where appropriate in separate rooms. Returns no longer take place at the desk. In each area visitors and team members are separated and protected from one another by a perspex screen.
  • BibTaxi: the delivery service continues to be offered, so a visit to the library is not strictly necessary.
  • Disinfection: disinfectant for hands and surfaces is available before entering the library. Inside the library a further opportunity for hand disinfection is available to visitors.
  • Easier entry: weather permitting, the entrance doors are held open with door stops to avoid the use of door handles.
  • Disposable products: we have switched to paper towels throughout.
  • Information: a large information column with the current rules stands at the entrance, and inside the library signs and markings point repeatedly to keeping a distance of 1.5 m.
  • Disinfecting items: items that have been returned are disinfected and put back on the shelves only after the lending session.
  • Protecting the team: team members are separated from one another spatially and from visitors by perspex screens. They do not change places while the library is open and as a rule do not leave their area. Where possible the same people work on each lending day.
  • Air: the library's rooms are aired thoroughly and regularly.
  • Extended cleaning: after every opening day, surfaces, keyboards, mice, door handles and so on are disinfected.
