Questions about the library card
Where do I get a library card?
You'll get your library card at the loans desk. If we don't know you yet, please sign up at the library with official photo ID or a driver's licence. Children and young people under 16 need permission from a parent or guardian.
You can send us your details online beforehand: → anmeldung.owbib.de
What does a library card cost?
Issuing and renewing a library card is free of charge.
From what age do children get their own card?
As a rule, children get their own card from the age of 6.
Can I borrow items without my card?
If you've forgotten your card just once, that's usually not a problem. If the team on duty doesn't know you personally, you'll need official photo ID or a driver's licence.
As a rule, though, you should always have your library card with you.
My address or name has changed!
Please let us know straight away.
I've lost my library card / it's been stolen!
Let us know straight away, so that we can block your card at once and spare you any loss. If the card turns up again, the block can be lifted. If it doesn't, you can have a new one issued; in that case a fee of €0.50 applies.
My login details don't work (any more)...
