Questions about the library lottery

Can anyone take part?

Any reader with a valid library card can take part. Library staff and their immediate families are excluded.

Do I have to register to take part?

No. Just use our services during the lottery period, recruit new members for the library or the Friends of the Library, and your points balance goes up by itself.

Where can I see my current balance?

Come into the library and ask for a loans receipt. Your current balance is printed on it. If we have an email address on file for you, you can also request a loans receipt by email.

Who wins if two people have the same number of points?

In that case lots are drawn.

How are the items marked?

The items were marked at random in our internal system at the start of the lottery. If you borrow a marked item, a note appears when it is issued.

What are digital services?

Our current digital services are:

How do I earn points through OBIKA?

Sign up to OBIKA and let us know briefly, giving your reader number and your mobile number (unless you have already given it to us when you joined) or your Telegram username (if you use that instead of your mobile number).

Do I get points if I already subscribe to OBIKA?

All OBIKA subscribers count, whether the subscription was taken out during the lottery period or before it.

How do I earn points through new readers?

Tell the new reader to say when they join that you recruited them. To be on the safe side, tell us directly as well who you have recruited. If the new reader is also active during the lottery period, you receive the points.

What is an active reader?

A reader is active once they have borrowed or renewed items. Borrowing eItems from the Onleihe and using our digital services count too.

How do I earn points through new members of the Friends of the Library?

Tell us who you have recruited as a new member. If the new member pays their subscription to the association during the lottery period, you receive the points.

What to do if you have further questions or problems?

You are always welcome to get in touch. Outside opening hours you can reach us round the clock by email at info@owbib.de. We do our best to answer as quickly as we can, in the evenings and at weekends too.

If you notice a mistake or an inconsistency on our website, please let us know. Thank you!

Events

I find the division into literature for adults and for children questionable. I can see no essential difference between myself as I am today and as I was forty years ago.
